museum_139.jpg - Greetings from the Norfolk Heritage Centre in downtown Simcoe, Ontario

For more information, please visit www.norfolklore.com or call us at 519-426-1583.

You may be interested to know that we are opening a new museum exhibition later this month. "Shedding Light on Old Norfolk" traces the evolution of lighting devices, from fat lamps to floor lamps.

The exhibit will feature cruisies and candles, kerosene lamps and gas fixtures, along with Aladdin and early electric examples. An added component will be a festive display for the 50th anniversary of Simcoe's own Christmas festival of lights -- Panorama.

Sponsored by Ontario Power Generation, the exhibit will run from November 27, 2008 until January 10, 2009.

The Norfolk Heritage Centre is open for tours Tuesday to Saturday between 10am and 4:30pm. General admission is $4/person. The Centre, consisting of the Eva Brook Donly Museum and the Norfolk Archives, is owned and operated by the Norfolk Historical Society.  Founded in 1900 it is one of the oldest societies in Ontario.
